hen the
Battleground at Deer Park Golf Course was first conceived, a great deal of
thought and effort was expended toward the ultimate goal of creating a
championship type golf facility for the serious golfer, the occasional weekend
player and the beginner as well.
There was an insistence that the facilities be first
class from the course itself to the clubhouse to the practice
facilities.
The course opened to rave reviews from area golfers and no small
number of seasoned professionals as well. And now that the Battleground layout
has had time to mature, it is consistently listed among the best in the Houston
area and this region of Texas.

The uniqueness of The Battleground, beyond its offering of
historical significance in the community that is billed as "The Birthplace Of
Texas," rests with its versatility. All golfers, no matter their skill level,
want a finely manicured golf course, tip-top greens in all seasons, a
first-class clubhouse, a spacious and well-maintained practice facility,
well-maintained golf carts and reasonable rates. And that is what all
golfers find at The Battleground.
The Battleground plays to 6,943 yards from the
championship tees, with all sorts of challenging shots and beautiful scenery
awaiting golfers of all levels. There are waterfalls. There is a 100-year old
Texas bridge that has been refurbished and strategically located at the heart
of the course near the clubhouse. There are large, inviting, and undulating
greens, covered with the popular Tiff-Dwarf Bermuda, cut to five-thirty-seconds
of an inch. The fairways are 419 Bermuda, mowed to one-half inch, and the rough
is common Bermuda mowed to two inches.
 The two-story
clubhouse includes storage downstairs for the first-class fleet of golf carts
available at the course, with 10,000 square feet of space on the top floor for
a beautiful pro shop, large banquet room, meeting room and complete locker
facilities for both men and women.
A complete practice facility is also part of The
Battleground's offerings, with lighting for practice at night, spacious
practice tees, and lessons available from golf professionals.
 The
Battleground has regularly scheduled tournaments, a junior golf program and
both men's and women's golf associations. In other words, it has something for
the whole family.
