Deer Park is known as the "Birthplace of Texas" due to the Battle of
San Jacinto having been fought here in April 1836. During the ensuing battle
Mexican General Santa Anna was captured by General Sam Houston. The resulting
treaty signed shortly thereafter at Patrick's Cabin by General Santa Anna
created a new country, The Republic of Texas.

This is only one
example of why we are so proud of "our gracious little city on the golden
plains of the great Gulf Coast." (to quote our former mayor Jimmy Burke) Since
its inception Deer Park has been a city of opportunity for everyone that calls
it home. We take great pride in our community, where our residents enjoy a
homey small town atmosphere in spite of residing minutes away from the fourth
largest city in the nation. Families of all ages enjoy a safe environment and
excellent quality of life provided by our superb police force and volunteer
fire department.

We are also exceedingly proud of the cultural arts available in Deer
Park. Our programs and performances are second to none and would be envied by
communities twice our size. Sources of entertainment include a community band
and two dinner theaters...all of which are outstanding. |

The Chamber enjoys a great working relationship with education,
industry, small business and the city of Deer Park. Working together is what
has made this community an outstanding place in which to live. The schools in
our area include Deer Park Independent School District, San Jacinto College and
Texas Chiropractice College. They are among the finest in Texas. Education
coupled with the support of industry and small business helps aid in preserving
and protecting the area's economic base which provides local
employment.

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce Mission Statement states we
"promote a climate for business which enhances the economic vitality and
quality of life in the community of Deer Park." In an effort to further serve
you we have included a wide variety of useful information to enhance your
